HELLO THERE!
If you're new here, my name is Michelle Emerson and I love helping teachers with all things technology, organization, and productivity!
I started teaching in 2014 and have taught multiple grade levels in different districts across Maryland. In addition to teaching full time, I served as my school's e-coach and helped teachers integrate educational technology in their instruction.
I began documenting my life as a teacher on my YouTube channel Pocketful of Primary in 2015. Since then, I've created a community of over 500,000 teachers, aspiring teachers, and more that inspire, motivate, and support one another!
Part of my motivation for sharing my journey as a teacher online stemmed from the difficulties I faced as I transitioned from college to the classroom for the first time. I loved teaching, but struggled more than I anticipated during my first year because my courses and student teaching internship didn't quite prepare me for the realities of the classroom.
After reflecting on my personal journey, I knew I didn't want any other new teachers to experience the same struggles.
In 2023, I published First Class Teaching: 10 Lessons You Don't Learn in College to support new teachers entering their first year of teaching as they navigate the transition from college to the classroom.
